1. Palakkad Fort (Tipu's Fort)
It is one of the main attractions in this district. The fort lies at the heart of the town. It was built by Mysore Sulthan Hyder Ali in 1766. The British then captured the fort in 1784. The fort lies 8 kilometer from the railway station. The fort opens everyday and can enter here without any entrance fee from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm. The fort now preserved by the Archeological survey of India.
2. Malampuzha Garden and Dam
This famous picnic spot includes a dam and a beautiful garden and is situated on the lower hills of Western Ghatts. The spot lies 10 kilometer from Palakkad and there are buses frequently. The dam here is meant for the irrigation purpose and it crosses the Malampuzha River, a tributary of Bharathapuzha. Malampuzha dam is the biggest dam in the state. Boating and Fishing can be done here with permission. A fresh water aquarium, Sneak Park, Children Park. A passenger rope way, Road train trips and a Telescope tower are the main attractions here. The famous amusement park Fantasy Park lies near to the garden.
3. Thiruvalathoor Bhagavathy Temple.
The temple is located 10 kilometer from Palakkad at the Chittoor-Kodumbu road. This ancient temple is well decorated with fine wood works and stone sculptures. It is one of the 108 Durga temples in the country. The temple remains unfinished. The annual festival falls at January, which lasts 10 days. Another attraction in the temple is the Mizhavu (a musical instrument), and it is observed as the largest in Kerala.
4. Jain Temple of Jainimedu
The temple is 1500 year old and the presiding deity here is Chandraprabha, the eighth Thirthankara of Jainism. The main attraction here is the huge statue of Kshethrapalan (The temple Guardian). Its one of the rare Jain temples you can see in Kerala. The temple is located 6 kilometer from Palakkad near Olavakkod. The temple opens at 5.00 pm everyday and thats the only visiting time.
5. Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary covers an area of almost 300 square kilometers in the Chittoor Taluk and lies 135 km from Palakkad. The sanctuary has a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is one of the Elephant and Tiger reserves in Kerala. Trekking is possible in the forest with prior permission. Boating facilities are also available at the reservoir. Parambikkulam is well connected by road to Pollachi. The nearest railway station is at Pollachi and the nearest airport is at Coimbatore, which is about 120 kilometer from Palakkad.
6. Silent Valley National Park
It is a dense rain forest located along the western corners of Nilgiris having an area of around 90 square kilometers. It is nearly 60 kilometers far from Palakkad and 90 kilometers from Coimbatore. Silent Valley got this name because of the poetic silence at this forest and it is just because of the absence of cicadas, which is common in all forests. The forest is famous for the very rare Lion-Tailed Macaque. This important biosphere in Western Ghatts is a protected area for tigers. The Silent Valley also known as Sairandhri Vanam. According to Hindu mythology Sairandhri is the other name of Draupadi who is the wife of Panadavas in MAHABHARATHA epic. Trekking is possible at this forest with prior permission.

Nelliyampathy, the Ooty of Kerala is located 26 kilometers from Nenmara, and is 65 kilometers southeast of Palakkad. This hill station is situated in a cluster of dark evergreen forests. This is a best place for trekking. The main attraction at Nelliyampathy is the hilltop known as Seetharkundu. From here you can see almost the whole of Palakkad. The Kachamkurichi temple is located here, which is famous for murals. The only route to Nelliyampathy is though Nenmara. The Pothundy dam located near to the hill region. This dam is meant for irrigation purpose and a main picnic spot.

It is located about 25 kilometers from Palkkad town in the Kerala Tamilnadu border. The dam is meant for irrigation purpose. There is a deer Park located 3 kilometers from Walayar.
9. Attappady
It is a beautiful region with mountains, rivers and forests. It lies 40 kilometers northeast of Mannarghat. The Attappady reserve forest is a protected area comprising around 250 square kilometers. The Tribal people and that occupy almost all the area and thats why Anthropologists around the globe have very much interested on this place. The Sivarathri festival is celebrated at the Chemmannur Malleeswaram temple by the tribal during the month of February/March is a good festival attraction here. Trekking is possible here with permission. The place is easily accessible from Nelliyampathy and Mannarghat.
10. Kalpathi
Kalpathi is the most famous 'Agraharam'(Street occupied by Brahmins) in Palakkad and one of the 18 Agraharams(Brahmin residing streets) in the state. The famous Sri Visalakshi Sametha Sri Viswanatha Swamy temple is here where the famous ‘Ratholsavam’ (temple car festival) takes place. Kalpathy is located 3 kilometer from Palakkad.

Dhoni forest lies 15 kilometers from Palakkad. We need to trek for three hours to the Dhoni hills to reach the reserve forest area and the waterfall.
12. Kottayi
This tiny village is the birthplace of Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, the doyen of Carnatic music. The village lies 15 km from Palakkad in the Alathur taluk.
13. Kollengode
The name Kollengode means 'The Abode of Blacksmiths' in local language. Kollengode is a good example for the rural fragrance of Kerala, which is lost. The village lies 19 kilometer south of Palakkad. An ancient Vishnu temple, The Kollengode palace and poet P.Kunjiraman Nair memorial are the main attractions here. Nearby hills Sethakundu and Govindamalai are ideal for trekking.
14. Varahamoorthi Temple, Panniyur
The temple is located in a village namely Panniyur at Kumbidi. The nearest town here is Kuttippuram, which is 15 kilometer away. The preserved deity here at this temple is Varahamoorthi (The third incarnation of Lord MahaVishnu). It is said that Perumthachan started building the temple and he left this temple unfinished. The temple still remains unfinished.
15. Mayiladumpara Sanctuary
The sanctuary lies 40 kilometer east of Cheruthuruthy and 25 kilometer south of Palakkad. The biosphere is mainly meant for peacocks and thats the name denotes (Mayiladumpara in local language means 'the rock where peacock dances'). The sanctuary allows free access without any gates and fences.
16. Olappamanna Mana
Olappamanna is the family name of a feudal lords, belongs to the Namboothiri category. They are the reputed patrons of Kathakali and it is believed that Kathakali originated here. The ‘mana’ (ancestral house) lies at Vellinezhi (Which is known as Kathakali village) near Chepulassery.

Situated on the shores of Nila, Pattambi was once the seat of Sanskrit literature and learning. Several ancestral families in Kerala have roots in Pattambi. Even today the place is crowded with Brahmins and Ardha Brahmins (Semi brahmins). Although a considerable number of Muslims living here and the famous Pattambi Nercha belongs to them. The Pattabi-Nila cost way is a main attraction here.
